Hyperpituitarism
Overview |
---|
- Hyperpituitarism refers to conditions in which there is excess secretion of one or more hormones of the pituitary gland. A variety of etiologies can result in hyperpituitarism; however, the clinical consequences that arise depend on which pituitary hormones are excessively secreted. The most common cause of excess secretion of anterior pituitary hormones are pituitary adenomas. Excess secretion of posterior pituitary hormones is solely observed with ADH and possible etiologies are discussed on the SIADH page.
