Angiomyolipoma

- Angiomyolipomas are completely benign hamartoms consisting of a mass of disorganized but mature cell types such as blood vessels, smooth muscle cells, and adipocytes. They can occur in kidneys as well as other organs such as the brain where they can induce seizures and mental retardation. Individuals with tuberous sclerosis are particularly prone to developing angiomyolipomas.
